On foot Les experts de la forêt: La gestion forestière en forêt de Saoû

Opening

Sunday 6 October 2024 between 9.30 am and 12.30 pm.

Présentation

A walk in the company of Office National des Forêts technicians. Echoing the Resilient Forest exhibition by Benjamin Just. Booking essential.

Today's Saoû forest is the result of a long human history marked by intensive logging and the planting of exotic species in the 19th and 20th centuries. Its acquisition by the Drôme département in 2003 radically changed the forest management policy, which now focuses on preserving the environment and reconciling different uses (hiking, sports activities, etc.). Today, the Saoû forest is the largest Sensitive Natural Area in the Drôme. What about the future? At a time when climate change is making itself increasingly felt across the globe, trees have become a major cause for concern. Forest management is facing many challenges. This walk, led by the two Office National de la Forêt technicians in charge of the Saoû forest, is an opportunity to gain a better understanding of the specific features of the Saoû massif, to grasp the medium-term challenges and to discuss adaptation scenarios. Booking essential - places limited ATTENTION: departure from the Sables Blancs car park Translated with DeepL.com (free version)
